Invisalign is one of the most popular ways to straighten teeth — and for good reason. It’s discreet, removable, and for most patients, significantly more comfortable than traditional fixed braces. But whether it’s right for you depends on your individual teeth, your lifestyle, and what you’re hoping to achieve.
Here’s what you need to know, and what the process looks like at our Wimpole Street practice.
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign uses a series of clear, custom-made aligners that gradually move your teeth into the desired position. Each aligner is worn for approximately one to two weeks before moving to the next in the series. Because they’re removable, you can eat and drink normally and maintain your usual oral hygiene routine throughout treatment.
The aligners are virtually invisible when worn — most people won’t notice them at all. Results for clinically suitable patients are typically seen within six to eighteen months, depending on the complexity of the case.
What We Use to Plan Your Treatment
At London Holistic Dental Centre, we use the iTero scanner to take a precise digital impression of your teeth. This allows us to show you a simulation of your expected result before treatment even begins — so you can see what your smile is likely to look like at the end.
There are no moulds, no mess, and no guesswork.
Invisalign and Composite Bonding
For many patients, Invisalign works best as part of a wider smile plan. Once teeth are straightened, composite bonding or whitening can further refine the result — addressing shape, colour, or minor chips that alignment alone can’t resolve.
We often discuss this combination at the initial consultation, so you have a clear picture of what’s achievable and what each stage involves.
Who Is Invisalign Suitable For?
Invisalign is suitable for a wide range of orthodontic concerns — crowding, spacing, mild to moderate bite issues, and more. It tends to work best for adults and older teenagers who are committed to wearing the aligners consistently (typically 20 to 22 hours per day).
Suitability is always assessed individually. If Invisalign isn’t the right option for your case, we’ll tell you — and discuss what alternatives might work better.
