Homeopathy is method of treatment based on the principal – like cures like For example, if the symptoms of your cold are similar to those of mercury poisoning then mercury would be your homeopathic remedy. The dose of a homeopathic remedy is taken in an extremely dilute form, indeed the more dilute the stronger the effect.

Homeopathy is safe effective and has no side effects, it is non addictive and works alongside the bodies natural systems for fighting disease and trauma.

True homeopathic prescribing is very time consuming and involves a detailed analysis of symptoms and of the patient and their personality, this level of use is normally beyond the scope of dental applications and should be addressed by a properly qualified and experienced practitioner. However it is possible to have some general remedies for dental symptoms which are suitable for use in the home.

These should be taken in low potency (6-30c) every hour or two until symptoms improve.

• Dental abscess – Belladonna (if acute red and throbbing) or Hepar sulph (if chronic and dull)
• Fever – Aconite, Belladonna or Bryonia
• Bleeding – Phosphorus
• Trauma – Arnica or Hypericum (with nerve damage)
• Teething – Chamomilla
• Pain following injection – Ledum

No remedy should be taken for more than a few days without professional advice.
