It’s no secret that we get through a lot of plastic in our day-today lives. Plastic seems to be everywhere, and a lot of us don’t really take the time to think about the wider ramifications of their plastic consumption. Nearly 5 million tonnes of plastic waste is generated in the UK annually- that’s the equivalent of 10 BILLION 2-litre plastic bottles, and as it takes up to 500 years to decompose, this waste is sticking around. All types of plastic are recyclable, and governments are slowly waking up to the damage single-use plastics are causing, but it’s the small steps that we can implement in our everyday life that will make a lot of difference.

With that in mind, we are proud to announce that here at London Holistic Dental Centre we are taking steps to make the whole practice single-use plastic free! It’s part of our ethos to care about all aspects of health, and this extends to the health of our planet. Worldwide, we use 500 billion plastic cups every year, which contributes to the trillions of plastic items choking our oceans, rivers and lakes and harming natural ecosystems. This is why we are swapping out all of our plastic cups for paper ones, which are far more biodegradable and recyclable. If you’re not a fan of paper cups, don’t fret! Just bring a refillable bottle along with you to your appointment and we can fill it up at reception- and you’ll rest safe in the knowledge that we’re one step closer to eliminating single-use plastics nationwide.
